Yeah, that is the Welcome Suica. It is only good for 28 days.

Fair, but 28 days is one long-ass trip.

Though, considering the chip shortage, I wonder if it would be possible for them to re-enable those short-term cards after their 28 days is up?

I thought the chip shortage was over(?).

A quick search and I get a few stories from 8 months ago saying "the chip shortage will probably last into 2023". But my patience would not last long enough to figure out what the current state is :hmmm: Guessing by the video above, it's not good. Pretty surprising!

Oh, I got myself an avatar
The caption says Ga Ga Ga!, the duck noise. It's from an episode of Study Abroad.

As someone who works in manufacturing. The chip-shortage is still a real thing. It's getting better, but there are still long lead times, especially for us smaller folks. We had to wait half a year for a chip to come in, thus delaying a customers order, thus backlogging us for the summer in a time when everyone takes vacations. (SO MUCH FUN! ((I'm so stressed right now.)))

We also run into the issue now of chip manufactures picking and choosing what they make and thus retiring/obsoleting older run chips and that in turn makes us need to redesign boards and such.

Awesome Win by Nadeshiko Japan vs. Norway. They also have these cute pink uniforms.

They play the USA or Sweden in the next round

More train talk here. No more snack carts on the Shinkansen

Apparently the snack carts are staffed by kawaii ladies. (I've never ridden the Shinkansen).

I have a Suica (about 9 years old... still good maybe), now all I need is an updated passport and $5k to spare

The last Windows update a few days ago gave my system just too many unrecoverable errors! So I finally bit the bullet, and did a full reinstall of Windows 10, this time on the solid state drive that I had installed a while ago. The old Windows installation had been on a 500 GB disc based hard drive, and it was so full of junk that it took at least 20 minutes to even boot up! Now, my system starts within a minute or two, and everything so far is nice and clean, although I don't know how long it will stay that way. But just installing Windows, updating it and getting some basic software for work put on the system has been a fairly epic journey, and I'm going to spend a lot of the weekend just reinstalling software and logging back in to websites!

A daily scene in my cousins front yard. Other friends here in town are telling me they are seeing turkeys in their neighborhood too!

Nine crows have also been seen here in a line when the sprinkler (well water) is turned on either cooling off in the heat or taking a shower (unknown).

I originally read that as "A daily scene of my cousins in the front yard." :whistling:
