In an interview through zoom, Wada Ayaka mentions that she has struggled with her sexuality and has liked girls
https://qjweb.jp/feature/40683/"At that time, I was also troubled by my sexuality. I've come to like the same sex, and for 25 years I've been living without knowing my sexuality and not knowing where I am."

Considering the sheer number of girls who have passed through Hello! Project over the last 23 years, I just assumed some of them felt that way. It was pretty much a given, statistically speaking.
And then considering the nature of the job, I think it might be more than some…

I’m super proud of her for coming out!
Here is an article about the article (?) in English:

Dawa.

That's definitely not easy to talk about. As someone else that's been struggling, I'm really proud of her for saying how she feels.

I just hope she doesn't get too much hate for it.

Good for her, I wish her all the best. It can't have been easy to come out so I hope she doesn't get too much hate (ideally I hope she gets none but...). Ayacho's really amazing!

I suggest reading the article to which Jessi linked. I don't think Wada has any problem with her own sexuality, and she seems quite comfortable with discussing it. Rather, most of her confusion seems to be due to her experiences in the entertainment industry and her studies of foreign cultures (as part of art history). She's only 26, but she's already lived more than other people twice her age. It's a lot to process.
