It struck me as funny how yesterday MM was #5 but ranked 2nd on Oricon. I'm guessing they sold so much more than the higher ranked artists on the Tower Records list because of all the pre-release events... but then I wonder who they do the preorders through for that.

Will be interesting to see how they do on tomorrow morning chart now that they bumped up to #4.

100,000 is pretty standard.

Having lived through all those depressing years of seemingly eternally declining sales, I doubt I'll ever look at first day sales of 100K as something to shrug about or just a standard thing to take for granted. To me, the fact that they are once again reliably gold sellers is a cause of joy and astonishment. And a tiny bit of trepidation, like, how long will it last this time? But for now, I feel like I can breathe easy again, at least for the next few months.

I'm not complaining about the blasé reaction though. It means having complete confidence they won't fail, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I totally agree with you on that. Its just I saw 100k and I thought... oh good! Nothing to be worried over and nothing to be shocked about. I'm happy that they are still selling well though don't get me wrong! I am always worried about the sales dropping (As it did a little with TokiSora), but I also don't want to be upset that the sales didn't increase. The sales have remained steady and steady is something to be happy for too <3
