What is the "I want to hear your voice" project?
This is a project that NHK has been developing since fiscal year 2022 to think about the happiness of children and young people.
The impetus for this project came from a UNICEF survey conducted in 2020, which found that the "mental well-being" of children and youth in Japan ranked 37th among 38 developed countries. The Nippon Foundation's "Awareness Survey of 18-Year-Olds" conducted this year also released worrisome data, including the fact that a smaller percentage of young people have hopes and dreams for the future than in other countries.
Furthermore, we have listened to the voices of some 20,000 people to date, believing that it is necessary for adults to take on board the wishes and concerns of the younger generation and take the necessary measures.
