That Momoiro Kataomoi is just too cute. Sayu out-Ayayas Ayaya. Gonna really miss her.

Funny that you guys are saying that Crying is an archetypical H!P song. To me, it seems a bit AKB-ish.

Regarding octaves, what claneski says. There may be a song here or there where a portion of a verse is octave doubled but it's not a regular thing by any particular vocalist. Sometimes Tsunku or other backing vocals will be an octave down or up. Offhand I'm thinking of Moonlight Night Tsukiyo no Ban da yo, where large portions of the vocals are an octave higher than the chorus. Honestly I can't really think off the top of my head of any female groups where one of the members regularly sings vocals an octave higher or lower than the rest of her group. I'm sure they exist but doubtful in mainstream pop. There's an 80's song Automatic in which lead singer Ruth Pointer's vocals are an octave lower than the chorus. It's really striking, and would be very noticeable if done in an H!P song.

OTOH there are probably quite a few mixed gender and male only groups that regularly do octave doubling.

Well then, I stand corrected on the octave thing. (Next time I will analyze the songs more closely with a DSP processor.)

Getting back to the question, is there anyone in H!P who has a bright tone like Yuukarin?

I think that's the first of the Kenshuusei songs, out of those I've heard, that I don't care for.

Well, yes, and no. Sorry, I didn't notice that you were talking specifically about High-King. C/C in particular did have quite a few verses sung octave doubled, but that wasn't specifically due to Yuuka, as afar as I know. Yuukarin's solo lines, anyway, were not sung in a higher note than the other girls'. What she had was a lighter vocal color than the other girls, so even when singing the same fundamental she had a thinner and more child-like sound.

"Crying" is at Ten Made Nobore levels of boring.

Although I'll admit it's slightly less boring... But not by much.

^ I'm a big fan of Ten Made Nobore. It was my favourite J=J song until Romance no Tochuu, believe it or not. :fear:

I prefer "Ten Made Nobore" to "Crying". It isn't a song I listen to all the time, and there was a point where it felt like it was being performed way too often, but I still enjoy it.

There are two types of H!P fans right now.

Those who love songs like Crying and Ten Made Nobore

And those who are really into the EDM direction Morning Musume has been going into.

*Cough* I mean those who don't really like those types of H!P songs

Ten Made Nobore! is a good concert song but isn't anything special. Like the KSS version of Aozora ga Itsumademo Tsuzuku You na Mirai de Are!, or something.

Crying is good too.

I mean, yeah, they're simple, but to be fair they are Kenshuusei songs. And also, Crying's an album song.
