This Japanese bass player also uses it in her stage name "YUCCO". I don't think it's that uncommon in Japan.

I think "c' just looks more fashionable and modern from a design point of view, especially when it's the unconventional form in places where "k" is used by default. Swedish uses "ck" where the other Scandinavian languages use "kk", and I feel like it looks more modern or something, but that might just be me.

IMO it's less a matter of fashion and more a simple fact of English orthography that you can easily replace a hard C with a K and it will still be pronounced the same. Whereas you can't usually replace a K with a C. The entire reason the K starts the word is in the first place is usually because a C would be unable to replace it in that position. Cnock, Ceg, Ceel, Cill, Cnight, Ciddy, Chaki and Cennel just don't look right in English...it's like doing a bad imitation of Welsh. Ceeping in mind the occasional caccoii exceptions like Celt.
