Lamb (Dýrið, literally "The Animal") (2021) — Icelandic films hardly ever get a U.S. release, so I have to support them when they do. This one is creepy and weird, which isn't a bad thing.

^ I need to go see that.
See, I get distracted if I’m watching a movie at home on my own because I’m used to playing on my phone or something. If I go to the theater I’d actually not do it because I’m one of those people who would actually be embarrassed to be disrupting the environment. So I enjoy going to the theater for that and actually want to see a few films that are out now.
It’s like with books. I barely read anymore because I get too distracted. But a few months ago when I had jury duty I finished two books easily because the environment allowed me to do so. I wasn’t gonna just play on my phone all day for several days.

On Netflix:
Kate (2021) — Mary Elizabeth Winstead is in full-on kick-ass mode as an assassin who is racing against the clock to find and kill a yakuza boss. Great supporting cast, including Woody Harrelson, Kunimura Jun, MIYAVI, and the ubiquitous Asano Tadanobu, with plenty of cool Japanese music on the soundtrack. AND BAND-MAID ARE PERFORMING ONSTAGE IN THE MOVIE!

The French Dispatch of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun (2021) — GQ's article from last year is entitled
"Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch Looks Like the Most Wes Anderson-y Film Yet." That's a perfect description. If that's a positive thing for you, see it by all means. If it's a negative, avoid this movie like the plague. I loved it.

Last Night in Soho (2021) — Edgar Wright's new thriller about a young woman who moves from Cornwall to London to learn fashion design and sees dead people. Fantastic soundtrack — predominantly '60s British Invasion, though there was a fitting Siouxsie and the Banshees track in the mix, as well. Not to mention a wonderful final performance by the late, great Dame Diana Rigg, the personification of Swinging Sixties London fashion if ever there was one.

SEARCHING (2018) starring John Cho, a good mystery solving thriller.

^ Just a coincidence? Or did Cowboy Bebop make you want to check out more John Cho stuff?

A friend recommended watching it, but I didn't know John Cho was in it until I looked it up.

Never forget that John Cho popularized the term
"MILF" in
American Pie, 22 years ago.
