Yes, this may damage whatever positive view UF has on the overseas fanbase.
This is in many ways their worst nightmare.

This guy actually ripped the music from the official video and claimed the ownership on YouTube, uploaded it on Spotify and Amazon for sale. So it didn't have anything to do with illegal uploads, except that he has 2 channels on YouTube with H!P music uploads.

It could indeed have a large impact on other non commercial fan uploads and if Up Front becomes more strict on this aspect.

But I also hope that it will result in them monetizing their content on YouTube and putting up the music on more platforms. It's not like they don't know how Spotify works, the whole UUG discography is already on there. By being more active on different platforms they will prevent this from happening again and they will earn more international money on the way.

I hope they also see the reaction of the international fanbase who are actively seeking this out and sharing it with Up Front, that's more positive then actions of one sad German guy.

From what I can only call the 'guestbook' (yeah remember those?) on his website.

Question:
BefuddledBrit (Mittwoch, 19 Dezember 2018 15:32)

Why have you been claiming copyright over Morning Musume/Sayu singles through Tunecore?

Hello BefuddledBrit, I would like to explain this to you simply and understandably. We have the permission to publish this song for a short time here. However, we do not deserve much because part of it goes to UpFront or H! P. This should only make it possible for the music to be available in the respective download app here as well, and this is only short-lived.
We got along with the displeasure on the social media and are very embarrassed about it. We hope we could help you there. If you counter and act fairly, we will gladly answer questions. Otherwise, they will be deleted or they will go to the Legal Department!

My German isn't what it used to be but I do believe the gentleman in question to be somewhat, shall we say... disgruntled? :giggle:

My money goes to Up Front too, but I didn’t make a whole bootleg company to do it.

Just passing this around quickly, so that everyone is sure to double check when buying H!P CDs.

But yes it looks like this guy is old school bootlegging CDs (poorly) too and selling them on Amazon.

The cover was funny enough, but I just about died once I saw the CD and "manufactured by Amazon, Lexington, KY".

the normal Oricon weekly charts remains intact.

So... Basically they went full Billboard.

It makes sense why and it might give us a better impression of more casual fans (eg streams) who don't want to commit to buying CDs but hopefully we don't get weird inflation's like Billboard does.

I do like "points" though- with Billboard they still give total "sales" numbers which is odd.
