For me, it's the fun of giving as much as anything.
The kind of things that make me happy to get are interesting, dirt-cheap (I mean, like stuff you'd see at a yard sale for almost nothing, or even find on the ground ) and kind of unusual in one way or another -- really just something that makes me smile when I see it. But putting some time and imagination into finding something for someone else is more fun.
