^ Thank you for that.

However, I recommend skipping the middleman and going straight to the original article…

Same here. I'm reminded of Takahashi Ai's fashion endeavours after her graduation everyone went gaga over.
Me I just thought everyone she styled looked like a hobo. :giggle:

NOTE: Ayaka calls "Come with me", the song she leads, a stylish, jazzy song. I think she relates the group back to her theme this month? Something about Kobushi being at a point where the members are becoming women.

Hirose Ayaka's book recommendations for September 2019; Novels that seem "I'm glad I was born a girl".(?) (As per usual: not a translation, just tidbits, a lot left out, probably errors, etc.)

1. Tiny Tiny Happy (タイニー・タイニー・ハッピー) by Asukai Chisa (飛鳥井千砂)
Surely there is a Tiny Happy around you. Located in a large shopping center in the suburbs of Tokyo, called Tiny Tiny Happy (or TaniHapi), an intricate human pattern, a romantic story depicting eight men and women in conflict.
Spoiler: show
• Originally Published in August 2011.
• Later adapted into a manga in 2014.

• Does normal mean happiness? The protaganists are adults struggling with work and love in everyday life.
A treat: Full translation of Ayaka’s comments, courtesy of Sohee
“When I was young I used to think it was cool to hit walls (struggle, deal with frustration). Then when I was in middle school I found this book. At the time I was troubled with everything in the world, and I just wanted to have a peaceful everyday life.

Now years later, I don’t know if an extraordinary or average life is better, but seeing how the characters in “TaniHapi” have troubles and worries in their average lives, reading about how they face those problems in order to find happiness, I really find that I still look up to them (as I did in middle school).”

2. Dareka ga Miteiru (誰かが見ている) by Miyanishi Mafuyu (宮西真冬)
There is a “hidden side” to couples, parents, lovers. Housewife Chikako, who works part-time in a supermarket, can't stop seeking praise through her fake "happy, stylish childcare" blog. Yuiko, the manager of an apparel store, is newly married and troubled over her sexless relationship with her younger husband. Nursery teacher Haruka overeats due to stress from her job, and seeks salvation through her lover. Yuki, a housewife who seems to have built a harmonious life with her gentle husband and young daughter. These four are connected to another person in various ways, and one day.. an unexpected incidenct occurs.
Spoiler: show
• Won the 52nd “Mephisto Prize”. (A Japanese literary award for unpublished genre fiction. The winning piece is published by Kodansha.)

• Originally published in April 2017.
• The author [roughly] said, “this is a story of women’s conflicts” . . . . “Everyone has a weak point. There are no perfect people, and that’s fine.”

• This is a fresh suspense novel, completely different from “Tiny Tiny Happy”. The twisting fate of women drowning in jealousy and resentment. Something about the linked negative emotions of the characters being a thng that happens in everyday life, how being part of that chain would be difficult. [. . . ] A suspense novel showing the courage of a woman standing up again and again.(?)

3. Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote
"The story of Holly Golightly, a hill-billy turned Manhattan playgirl, and the eclectic circle of friends who surround her. The unnamed narrator of the story is a young writer from a small town, out on his own for the first time." - BookRags
Spoiler: show
• Originally published in October 1958.
• The Tatsunokuchi Naotaro translation was released in 1960 (with a revision in 1968), and the Murakami Haruki translation was released in December 2008.
• Has been adapted several times; most famously as the 1961 film starring Aubrey Hepburn, a musical in 1966, an unsold TV pilot in 1969, and two stage plays (2009, 2013).

• When Ayaka first saw the film adaptation of this novel in middle school, she was struck by the beauty of Aubrey Hepburn and it caused her to become curious about the original work, eventually making her a fan. There are two versions [translations] in Japanese, one by Tatsunokuchi Naotaro (龍口直太郎) and another by Murakami Haruki (村上春樹). Ayaka likes both of them. The overall original story doesn't change, but the impressions of the characters are slightly different depending on the translator. She seems to have read the two translations and the original around the same time with the help of a teacher at cram school(?), and still remembers how moved she was feeling the subtlety of language and how just changing 1 word made a difference.

She thinks there are good points to both translations, but there's nearly 50 years difference between the publications. For the purposes of readability and a use of more modern expressions/language, she recommends the Murakami Haruki translation - but also thinks the Tatsunokuchi translation and the original have their merits, and ultimately would like people to include them both along with the film.

I approve of this costume switch, they look great. That backup was a lot of fun to watch.

I don't know who these girls are or which show this is from, but for whatever reason they're learning "Utakata Saturday Night!"

^ On the show called "Ariyoshi Japon", the show started a project where they followed one girl with just 100% visual beauty, but she had no rhythm or just tonedeaf and observed if she can win the audition with a bunch of other girls competing. They were scouted and went through an audition camp to be in idol group "Imouto Sisters" (いもうとシスターズ). Utakata Saturday Night is their audition dance and Koi wo Shichaimashita is their audition song
