as far as JKR goes, she does adopt a it's-each-person's-own-business-if-they-like-this-stuff philosophy officially when it comes to fanfiction, but you can tell she's not particularly fond of it (flattered, maybe, but certainly doesn't want to read any of it).
when it comes to pairings, she pretty much sticks to canon and therefore odd pairings just seem really ridiculous to her (which is understandable, coming from a mindset where what she imagines is the absolute truth
). her reaction to Dumbledore/Luna was funny, which i believe she only became aware of because Evanna Lynch herself kind of ships them lol. less ridiculous pairing she tends to say "i could see that if.." or "i can see how people could see that, but.." like with Neville/Luna, Harry/Hermione and such.

She says "HOW!?" about my favorite ship (Hermione/Draco) ALL THE TIME
Authors are advised by their lawyers not to read fanfiction... though I bet they do anyway. I do know of a few authors who HATE fanfiction with a passion (Sup, Anne Rice) and thinks it rapes the characters.

Yeah, Robin Hobb is also against fanfiction..
well, I don't mind it, personally. Just as long as people realize their ship is not the truth, and stuff. This girl (who has sort of made my life and my friends a living hell for the past few months, but I can't do much about it other than ignore it) I know would have to pretty much say how much Ron/Hermione felt like incest to her pretty much everytime someone brought up the canon stuff. And how Harry/Hermione should've been the true pairing.
And it annoyed the hell out of me.

I totally agree with her on this! I mean HOW x.x I dislike this pairing.

^ Neville ended up with Hannah Abbott and Luna with some unknown character whose name i don't remember, but i believe JKR said that it wouldn't be out of the question for them to have dated at some point, but they didn't end up together. the reasoning was something like they're too different.. the crazy things Luna is into would just be scary for Neville lol.
