I'm guessing a CD+DVD and CD+Blu-ray? Momoiro Clover did that with their indies compilation album. The difference in price between the two are big, though...

I checked the price for MM's 2CD+DVD 10th anniversary album with the oversized packaging as well as the price for the limited edition of their b-side collection with a slipcase, oversized jewel case, hard cover mini photobook and 3CDs, and even those releases are FAR from costing 6k yen. I don't see what this limited A edition could be unless it comes with a photobook and several DVDs or even blu-rays, which cost more.

Is there even any point in albums anymore? Single > Album.

6k album had better mean real physical extras. T-shirt+PB combo or something.

^I was gonna say the exact same thing.
What singles are we looking at?
Aitaix3 na, Kono Machi, Crazy Kanzen, Kanashiki/Adam&Eve? That's five songs already. Hopefully we don't get jipped with a 10 track album again.

album sales are way more important than single sales, it shows how relevant you are with the general public.

In Japan singles are way more promoted and important though.
I'd never say albums are unimportant but. Singles > Album in general over there.

Well if we look at Kyary her last single sold 26k and the one before that only sold 50k. Her new album just sold 126k in it's first week. It's the same thing for other big acts like Namie Amuro, EXILE, Arashi, Perfume, Kana Nishino, Mr Children, Ikimonogakari, Momoiro Clover Z etc. I don't even have to use big artists actually it's basically like that for every single artist in japan...except most idols since idol singles tend to have more events and it's easier to bulk buy.
E-girls' singles generally sell around the same as c-ute (their highest one sold 49k) but their album went on to sell 123k, and I believe it's still charting despite being released 3 months ago. E-girls get cm deals, invites to high profile shows, people actually know who they are...just like the artists mentioned above. If we only pay attention to single sales c-ute should be on the same level but they don't even come close, same goes for morning musume.

It was about time.
3 editions?
Fancy. Hopefully Morning Musume。get the same treatment too.

It's not a big hit album that puts you everywhere though, you get the album sales because of great success prior to that. Unless you're pimped from the start and the first thing you release is an album.
Of course the sales would be higher for idol albums but especially for H!P albums if they would PROMOTE the damn thing.
