I knew about the hairstyle rule but I didn't realize Kanon's very ugly ponytail that she has in pretty much every MM shoot was part of it. D:
I was hoping the stylists just sucked at choosing a style that fit Kanon and went with the ponytail.

The hairstyle rule has been a rule of MM (and idols?) since forever. A smart one too.
Kanon loves having ponytails apparently (from her blog) and even if she didn't, it's a good way to be memorable and leave an impression. Even if it's just "That ponytail girl." Remember how Dawa was all "Ok I'll cut my hair short, but only if I can still do a ponytail!" for Shortcut? That was definitely so that she'd be able to still live up to her image and stuff. Same thing for Momochi and a million other comedians.

I personally think though that Kanon can start to let go of it soon. Especially since she's been getting the "chubby girl in MM" thing going for her.
Though, if they'd start doing her hair the way it is in Kimikawari, then I think that'd be awesome. It looks great on her there. <3
