Oricon Weekly Single Ranking #1 with 57k

This is ANGERME's second time reaching Weekly #1, and the first in 2 years and 6 months.

Hello! Project's 10-member female idol group ANGERME's latest single "Ai Mashou / Hade ni Yacchai na! / Ai Subeki Beki Human Life" sold 57k copies in its first week and ranked No.1 in the latest "Oricon Weekly Single Ranking" announced on May 17th.

ANGERME has reached No.1 for the first time in 2 years and 6 months since "Watashi wo Tsukuru no wa Watashi / Zenzen Okiagarenai SUNDAY" (69k) on 12/2/2019.

In addition, the total number of "Top 10 singles" is now 30 in a row, and the number of "Consecutive years with a Top 10 single" is 13 consecutive years! (2010~2022)

This is a triple A-side single released by ANGERME, a 10-member group with the addition of new member Hirayama Yuki. "Ai Mashou" is a passionate Latin number, and "Hade ni Yacchai na!" is a cool and fashionable dance number, and "Ai Subeki Beki Human Life" is a bouncy and fun song written and composed by singer-songwriter Kohei Dojima.

ANGERME is scheduled to hold its solo concert "ANGERME CONCERT TOUR -The ANGERME- PERFECTION" at Nippon Budokan on June 15th.

I'm sure it's been explained before, but is there a particular reason why there's such a big difference between Billboard and Oricon's numbers?

^ As digital sales/streaming increased, physical sales decreased. Idol groups (both male and female), who depend heavily on merchandising, tried to keep their physical sales up by pushing multiple editions, boxed sets, lottery tickets, collectible inserts, and so on. All of that, plus more direct sales via agency storefronts and merchandise booths. Those tactics worked, but they also skewed the rankings and buried other artists who did not do the same, so Oricon changed how it counts sales in order to counter those tactics.
