Morning Musume. '14 12th gen - Golden audition

Makino looked like she was about to cry (in a good way) when she was doing her introduction. Also I love how the former Kenshuusei practically ran out on stage they were so excited.

I think when it comes to telling the girls apart, it's because we don't have faces with a lot of character this time around (Makino has the most distinctive look in my opinion with Haruna behind her) In the past Gens we'd have at least one girl with looks that would stand out. 10th Gen especially, Haruna and Haruka have very distinctive looks. Once they settle into the group though everyone will have less trouble. (I don't have any, but I also have gotten really fast at finding distinctive features in Elementary-Middle school aged Japanese children cause of my job).

Also I will confess I had trouble telling 9th gen apart aside from Kanon when I first caught sight of them.

I find it weird how, during my experience with H!P, I never had a hard time telling members apart.

Yet, with other groups, like AKB48, the only members I sure know who is who are the ones that are very distinct from the others. (I get lost after Mayuyu, Paruru, and Takamina. Lol.)

Though I'm going to have to take some time to remember these new faces, Haga is easy because she looked almost like Aika in the Oheso PV. Maria because she's tall...the other two though I'll find a way lol

They don't look that similar...

Right?! I find their traits quite distinctive actually. Maria is unmistakable, Haruna has a bit in common with Uemura's sharp though bland face curves, Akane has quite an innocent look because well, she's still a kid, and Miki, idk, I just recongnize her already, and not by elimination.

To me, the only 2 that look a bit similar to each other are Akane and Miki.
Maria is kind of distinctive. Iikubo-ish at times.
Haga has an "early days" Aika look to her, with a smidge of Ayacho thrown in.
Miki has a Yaguchi from her early black hair days look to me, particularly her smile.
Akane, to me, she can look very different and hard to recognize depending how she's made up.

Miki I'm liking the most so far, then Akane I think. Can't wait to see what they'll be like once they've settled in a bit and there characters start to come out.

Even the 6kis took a little bit of time for their characters to shine. Best gen ever as far as I'm concerned.

Maria looks pretty distinct. I can see how Miki and Haruna2 might look similar, although I can tell which one is Haruna2 so Miki would be the other one. Akane is pretty distinct from those two.

Well, I grew up around East Asians so apart from K-Pop clones I can usually tell people apart.

I won't comment on how similar-looking they are or aren't, but I would like to point out that we weren't able to watch them go through the training camp like we did with the 9th/10th, so we don't know their faces as well (of course, I'm talking about the other two, but this still goes for people who don't follow the kenshuusei much).
