^^True, but I've always felt like a large number of people like idols because they're not perfect. You wanna support them because they're unpolished, and help them grow and become better. Then, years later, you can look back on them when they started out and feel proud of them. I'm like that with lots of my oshis -- most specifically Maimai, though. Watching her grow up has been super fun.

My problem is with people who constantly complain that so and so can't sing/dance/whatever... Like, that's kinda not the point, man. Of course, that's a very small minority, but there are those people out there. Nobody really on JPlop, though, as far as I've seen.

There are also people who don't like idols who can't sing, which, to me, is silly, but hey, everyone has their own preferences I guess.

I feel like some people are being harsh on Ogata and Nonaka from only small snippets of audition footage, which imo isn't really fair, but I'm probably bitching again.

AyuHikaru wrote:Miki is a good singer, I'm not sure what some of you are hearing... she's just nasally, you can tell she has an innate untrained talent.

Isn't that what everyone has been saying? "Needs work but definitely has talent"?

Anyway, I still like Haruna. There are several idols that I like a lot who can't really sing. She'll probably turn out to be awesome in some other way. They usually do. And I'm perfectly okay with not every idol in a group being a good singer because idol groups need more than just good singers. They need cute people, good dancers, fun personalities, etc, etc. I care about those things, too. (Although, considering some of the people that are popular right now, it's pretty clear that they don't actually need good vocals to be successful at all.) And I also enjoy watching people grow. However, while I don't need them to be SUPER talented, the vocals have to be above a certain level for me to call myself a fan of the group. That's just me. Some people care more about dancing. Other people care more about personalities. Everybody has their own thing.

I think Tsunku likes it this way though. Its not like he added all talented girls or all work in progress girls. He adds three with high skills so that he can throw in an unpolished girl or two for fun. Technically Kanon and Erina were both that girl for the 9th gen, Masaki and Haruna in 10th, and now Ogata for 12th. It sort of makes it okay. I like rooting for the weaker girls too, especially if they show they work very hard at improving. I need to get to know them a little better first though. Personality can make up alot for what a girl lacks in talent. I think Sayumi proved that and its what draws me to Haruna and Erina now. (And like I said before, I didn't like them when they joined) I bet in six months I'll be in love with New Haruna.

"Oharu" isn't an official nickname (neither is H20). :U I think Tsunku decided on "Daisaku".

I've been hearing "Haachan" lately (when I lurk 2ch for fun), which sounds pretty nice.
