lol I've studied about language acquisition and foreign accents so I find it interesting xD

At the word level, her pronunciation is excellent. Above the word level (e.g., intonation) she's less fluent. most likely because she's not exposed to native English speakers on an everyday basis, and there's also the knowledge that she has to slow down for other Japanese speakers who aren't as good in English.

There's also the fact that she's reading from cue cards, which is not as easy as people might think. Her stiffness and apparent lack of fluency seems on par with other novice presenters, regardless of language. I'd like to see her have an entirely off-script conversation with another American.

Speaking of which, can we say that Miki is probably the closest we'll ever get to having an American member of Morning Musume? (Sorry, Mika Todd.)

Even most Americans (including me.) can barely read off of a cue card without sounding like Miki. xD

I'm so glad Miki is getting the J-MELO love that I hoped that she would. On the other hand it's not so surprising. I'm sure that the program producers probably shat their pants when an English speaker almost at the level of May J pretty much just dropped into their laps. I'm sure the amount of Japanese musical performers available and at that level of English is pretty low. So the fact that one appears in a group that they already have a strong connection with must have been like a miracle for them.

(Also J-MELO screwed up when listing the girls names on the video above >_> 'Haruna Iikubo' is listed twice and they messed up Maachan's name and typed up "Yuki Sato" instead).

I bet The whole reason Miki is there is because of Jmelo. Kind of like the whole reason Koharu joined for Kirari and JunLin joined during their failed expansion.

Her butt needs to stop growing on me. She was last in 12th when she came in, now she's easily 2nd in 12th and she's pushing into Maria Territory. Who will be my oshi when Harunan leaves - Maria or Miki!? Who knows!
