Speaking of Asians speaking in Kiwi accents, my brother-in-law recently recommended to me a series on Hulu called "Creamerie." It's a dark comedy about a post-apocalyptic future where it seems that all Y-chromosome holders have died of an unnamed plague, leaving only X-chromosomal survivors, i.e. for the most part women, although presumably non Y-chromosomal people who are trans, non-binary and intersex are still around. So society is populated, controlled, run by women, top to bottom, which, like Barbie Land, seems like it might be a utopia, but as we quickly learn, is not nearly as idyllic as one might hope given the circumstances. The three leads are of Chinese ancestry and play Chinese-Kiwi women who own a small dairy farm.

Madness ensues. It's a bit reminiscent in tone of shows like Search Party or In the Dark, although a little more zany than either of them in the lighter moments, and a little bit more gruesome in the darker ones.

The season/series 1 trailer contains spoilers, but nothing that will really effect your enjoyment of the show. There's a second season/series as well, and renewal for a third. Each one contains only 6 episodes, so things move along at a rapid clip.

I can't believe they did that ET scene: "get in my basket"

Pop Culture Reports from the Coolness of Under a Rock

I learned that this Oppenheimer movie is kind of a big deal. It was shot in 65mm film (or 70mm ... it's complicated), which has about 3.5x the area of 35mm. If you live in a big city with a 70mm projection setup it could be worth going to. It's giving film a bit of life again by the sounds of it.
