First I accidentally come across a video of an old '80s Japanese group covering "Jolene" by Dolly Parton, now I find a modern Chinese singer covering a Shania Twain song. I may have to dive into a YouTube search for asian artists covering country songs..

first music cards and now..Oricon announced today with some more restrictions : CD with tickets or tickets with CDs will stop and will not be counted on Oricon daily charts. so groups like EXILE and K-POP groups that sell CDs with Tokyo Dome tickets or any other major concert tickets to increase CD sales, cannot be combined anymore. it goes into effect, June 1st

Oh, this is going to be interesting.
They might as well have called it "the anti-Exile rule".

This is just a few steps removed from not counting bundled handshake tickets (1 ticket=1 guaranteed handshake) at this point.
Watch all idols' reported sales plummet when that ever happens.
Although the lottery-style method H!P's been doing for years's would be safe for longer I guess.

It would be refreshing to move away from Oricon as the most dominant metric of an idol group's succes.

The girls were playing with "party goods", except they were intended for adults instead of children, so the dosage of helium was too high. Some sources are saying there's a chance she could be paralysed down one side.

I hadn't seen any updates about it here, so I investigated.

The 3b girl who inhaled helium and went into a coma has apparently recovered enough to have been released from the hospital on March 10.

Doesn't seem like there's any complete status update (like, "not paralyzed down one side!", etc), but it does say that she's improving.

I was getting worried about her ;;. I'm glad she's at least somewhat "okay"... Hopefully.

These replies are a bit on the late side, since I didn't even look at this thread while I was in Japan, but here goes….

This song so much reminds me of when the Hobbits first
invaded and took over Bilbo Baggins's home (in “The Hobbit” book)
and started jamming with their musical instruments.

or were they elves? I forget. XD

For the record, they were dwarves.

Zunu wrote:Y'all young'uns don't understand. You were happy to buy shitty overpriced jpop albums back then because that's all you could get. You held on to that Shiina Ringo CD for dear life. You got the overseas Suzuki Ami because it was half the price and you couldn't read the characters regardless. That how we rolled back then.

The first H!P CD I ever bought was the first mini-moni。 album. Why? Because Kinokuniya in S.F. had a bunch of Japanese import CDs on sale — singles for $3, albums $7-10 — so I bought everything by any artist that I was vaguely familiar with and/or looked worthwhile. That's when I bought my first SPEED CD, as well. A fair number of my earliest H!P CD and DVD purchases were Taiwanese pirate editions. XD

Zunu wrote:Pretty sure I've got that CD somewhere as well, gathering dust in some box next to a couple of VHS tapes. Along with that Love Psychedelico CD

I still enjoy Love Psychedelico. They had some of their stuff available on ANA's on-demand audio on my flight home from Japan, and I would have listened to it, if I hadn't stumbled across the Blue Hearts on my way through the menu. Natsukashii….

yesterday Idoling was at a live event and it was broadcasted live on Nico Nico, but staff decided to cut off their song and cancel their performance. They said fans in the front row were being too "interruptive" and a "nuisance" to Idoling when they were enthusiastically jumping (which was prohibited). There was some heckling about the disbandment. They were warned but they just decided to cancel their performance. The producer had to apologize in front of the fans.

Here is the performance from Nico Nico Live, only to be interrupted.
