...that's still alo-hello dvd and not at all the version they used to promote the single, so? MM dance in their genki pikappika video, too.
My personal position on that is that anyway - alo-hello is completely FOR the fans, and if it's for the fans (much like photobooks) that's one thing. If it's something that's gonna play on whatever music channel and/or rankings? A whole different thing as that will reach many, many people who aren't necessarily a fan of the group but will create an image of it from the few seconds they see.
Which, if the actual PVs would be bikini would be... well. How people react/ed to AKB. Some love it, some really don't.

whoops. took me a while to figure out what we were arguing about.
i understand your point now. its just that with music videos, i automatically assumed that amped forgot about alo-hello i didnt acknowledge the "image DVD" part.

I do understand what you mean now, however just to add onto your point I think that in terms of fan service, they are the same in what they do but one receives more attention than the other. Its still incentive nevertheless for sales, but a music video for a single does obviously get more attention.
I do think it is still a bit hypocritical however to ignore the fact that there is somewhat dancing that exists in alo-hello MVs in bikinis (despite it being from an image DVD, that amped approves of), as a means of saying that HP is more modest (we lost that with Mystery Night tbh). But I do get what your trying to say that in terms or reception it is completely different.

No one's arguing about which are more modest lol. That ship sailed long ago with Biyuuden and maybe even earlier if we wanted to have that discussion
Strictly speaking they all wear outfits with similar levels of skin exposure and well, swimsuits are just the logical extension of that in some ways.

But presentation matters. Order of prioritization have a definite impact on the perception the respective agencies wanted the fans and the general public to have. There's a reason why Hello Project is often referred to as an "orthodox/traditional faction" in idol world, and not just among the fans mind you.

Restraint/subtlety although some may say blandness or daring all-out-fanservice with risque innuendos everywhere, I don't see how it's hypocritical to prefer one approach over another but this is straying far off topic so can we take this to the musing thread? loading those gifs are killing me in more ways than one on this particular page XD

An entire DVD of nothing but Daaishi playing suikawari could easily be the biggest selling H!P video of all time.
