It's a function of quality and availability. It's hard to get mad about a low-quality rips of a TV appearances of fan club DVDs

if you go on Youtube now, you can find a few H!P concerts uploaded in full, but in very low 240p quality.
I don't quite know how they can escape Youtube's copyright algorithms, but somehow they do.

Why someone would want to watch those in that manner is beyond me.
It's like going to see a movie in a theater but bringing a mosquito screen along to watch it through.
The sound is compressed to hell as well.

In a sense I agree with you. But I feel that the board policy should be simple to comply with and not leave a whole lot of grey areas. When we start trying to figure out if something is appropriately downrezzed enough, there becomes a back and forth where the mods have to be play cop and get pm's and so on, and the subject of copyright, etc., would wind up being a much larger metadiscussion than it is now, imo. For an official policy I prefer to just leave it at stream = ok, download = not okay, with the exception of the occasional lovemusic type link that I guess you could say has been "grandfathered in." (i.e. okay but only because of jpm/jplop tradition). Morally is a different story, and I'm not questioning anyone's standards in that area.
