I think that's one of the things I like about Japanese idols -- most of them are natural-looking. Sure, they wear makeup, but several of them still look good without it.

Correcting that for you.
Make-up is indeed a keypoint in showbiz world, for some people it's something as a rule just to be part of this society. Personally I like to think of make-up as something that remarks each one's own style, because after all there's a lot of "art" implemented in it and knowing which traits t highlight of each one's face and how does affect each one's manners.
Which is actually fabulous, because in fact almost all the people in it are beautiful without it.

And yes, the fact that most of them ar natural looking is one of the best things about Japanese idols. (Even my friends who are all about K-pop got to admit that.)

As for that, I agree, surgery is not that common in Japan but not sure why. Maybe it has something to see with Japan's religion/traditions/way of living.

It costs a lot of money to have any dental procedures done in Japan and they have a mistrust towards dental practice in foreign countries where it's cheap to have them done.

Some Japanese women envy Korean women re:cosmetic surgery and the former think the latter are beautiful despite knowing that they're "custom made"

They're very health conscious and prefer natural ways to becoming/staying beautiful. They take a lot of supplements and have special creams and drinks.

I think there are more naturally beautiful Japanese women, but I don't think I've seen enough of either to make an accurate judgment.

Man I love quiz shows. 8D

She didn't get to talk too much but neither did 90% of the people there. It's not a talk variety show, it's a quiz show where the quiz is the focus so she's not supposed to talk too much. :b It all comes down to who the host pokes at and, to be fair, she was far from the most important one to go at here. I'm surprised he even did a bit during the kanji quiz lol.
