Kago Ai sent to the mass media a handwritten statement via fax saying that she registered for marriage again. This is her 2nd marriage. Her new husband is 38 years old (she is 28). She is happy that he will care for her daughter that was born last June.

Does anyone know if this is something people in Japan will look down on her for (being married twice and having a stepfather to her baby) or if it's something that the Japan will respect (at least she's married and not a single mom etc)

Japanese culture can be very conservative so I'm hoping that it's the latter and not the former. Personally, I'm happy for her so long as her new husband is a good man and treats her and her daughter well.

Getting divorced and married again within two years...plus trying to be an idol when she is "old" by Japanese idol industry have never been good for her publicity-wise

Divorces (at least of celebs) in Japan seem to be a big deal, at least from what I've seen? Not too sure about remarriages though...

I hope it works out for Kago. I do worry about her, since she's had a tough life and I'm sure she still struggles sometimes especially being a single mum until now/recently. If she has someone to help her, I'm sure that'll make things somewhat easier. In her message she says they have strong feelings for each other and he seems to love her daughter a lot too, which always helps.

@teth: I don't disagree, but hasn't she stopped being an idol recently? She's left her group and in the message she sent out to the media she says she's going to continue as a "singer and an actress" with no mention of idol activities. Not that that means anything, of course. I don't really keep up with her much...

I think she was trying to do something similar to being an idol again?
