I think Reina wanted the challenge of being seen as a "real" singer rather than an "idol" singer (even though she felt that she had a long way to go to catch up).

Reina was pretty good at dancing and enjoyed idoling though so I doubt that was the reason. I think she just wanted to fly with her own wings and let her kouhai take over MM. She always said she liked "bandols" too.

Reina had no intention to start a band. lol She was set on going back to Fukuoka once she left MM but Tsunku was the one saying she should stay and start a band, probably because he figured she'd do good in one, and now here we are. Definitely took a long time, but she's finally happy with it and where she is so. In Lovendor she IS the idol and she does nothing to play that down -- it works for them, really. They've all got different things going for them and that's hers.
