I always really liked Naichau Kamo, but I can't seem to get into Resonant Blue. Something about it irks me.

^^See, Idk. I like the current era better than the Platinum Era. I'm not saying that because Eri isn't around - I just feel more attached to these girls. And I like the music better, too. Don't get me wrong, Platinum Era had some fantastic songs (Nanchatte, SYO, etc) but I've loved every MM。song since 9th gen joined (I'm not lying). There hasn't been a single song I've disliked so far. The closest to that is Kono Ai wo Kasanete, but that's just because it's a bit bland.

^ I don't entirely disagree. That's why I specified "top of their game as a performance group," as opposed to in general. Because yeah, in some cases the Platinum stuff was generic and/or sucky. Musically I preferred Golden Age, but overall those girls couldn't imo hold a candle performance-wise to the best of Takahashi-Jidai Musume, as demonstrated by DMM.

Yuuko was a fantastic performer though D:.
Unless you meant after she graduated, but then Maki.
Speaking of great performers:

I agree with Zunu almost completely (except that I think Platinum Era had the best music as well)
I was watching old live performances, before platinum era, and indeed performing wasn't as strong back then, it's not only with DMM that you can notice that.
I remember Aichan said that Tsunku approached to her and said that things were getting rough, and that the bar had to be raised and girls had to put more effort since then, so performing became more demanding.
Old school momusu were more personalities/idols than performers, platinum era was just the opposite and current momusu is trying to find a happy middle.

I don't think they'll want Momochi in the JSDF.
